THis month my street team member I have met twice at UtopYAcon when I travel from South Africa to meet up with yet another book lovers and writers support group. I have been fortunate enough to meet Nanette and loved every part of being with her!
Tell us about what you do for a living and what is your home life like? I am an accounts specialist so basically I hound companies to pay their bills. Lol. My home life is great. I have a wonderful husband who supports my book obsession, two teenagers in the house (a few others outside of the house) and the furry kids of course.
Do you write? I don’t write books I write poetry. I’ve also done that forever. I did it as a way to express myself because I was always kind of the shy type who never knew how to express her feelings and that is the one way I know how to do it.
Do you blog or review? I love reviewing books for authors. It’s how I’ve come to love so many over the years. I do blog but not to the point that everyone else does. I have my book page on FB and I have a BlogSpot but I just share the love of any book.
What are your passions in life? I don’t have many passions like I did when I was younger. I’m simpler now. I just want my family to be happy and maybe a magical fairy to help me with housework so I can read more but that’s it. J
Do you judge a book by its cover? OMG! I am a true cover Whore and I fully admit it. If I see a beautiful cover I will totally buy the book. I mean I just did this over the weekend. I don’t have a clue what the story is about but the cover was a couple sitting on top of an old Ford truck. I had to have it and you can pretty much somewhat tell what a books about with a cover that’s obvious like that so yeah.. Book Cover Whore not so anonymous here I come. J
If you were elected world president what would be the first law you would enforce? No one would want me as a president because I’d probably do everything wrong. I don’t have the first clue on what to do. I’d always second guess myself because I care what people would think of me I wouldn’t be able to please everyone.
What elements would the perfect book house? Everything, from Laughter, love, suspense, to crying. I want a book that pulls at every emotion that I have.
Favorite fruit.- Strawberries. I love strawberries.
What is the deciding factor for you when choosing your next read? Well I already told you I’m a cover Whore but If I have a review book to read of course that is first then whatever I see on my kindle that I feel like reading next. I try to mash it up a bit. Change up Genre’s so I don’t get bored from reading the same types of books over and over.
Are you a creative person? I can honestly say that I am very creative. I love thinking of new and exciting things to do. Pinterest is my best friend.
What is your craziest moment? I have so many that I can’t even think of one in particular. Craziness just follows me everywhere. That and being clumsy.. Let’s not even get me started with that. J
Are you on pinterest, instagram, twitter? Yes to all 3. I am Nanette Bradford on Pinterest, Nanaz_alil_bookwhoreish on Instagrap and @pixiedust327 on Twitter.
Nanette on the left and her beautiful daughter on the right #MadLoveMoments
Where did your love for reading start? I started reading at a very young age and fell in love from there. I was one of those kids that would be caught under her sheets with a flashlight trying to read after bedtime. I got a few scolding for that but I never stopped reading.
What does the world of storytelling bring you? It brings me exactly that, a new world. A new place where I can escape all of my personal problems and just jump into a world like no other. It can be a real world with a simple love story, it can be an imaginary world with vampires and trolls, and it can be a futuristic world with time travel. I am always right there with every character. Cheering them on, running for our lives and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It truly makes me happy.
At what point do you decide that the read is unbearable to continue and you abandon the book? I’ve only ever not read a book twice. I’m very open and I can pretty much tolerate anything. If there are editing issues I can look past it mostly but if a story isn’t something that I am interested in, it has nothing to do with the writing at all, it’s just something I know I will not like I will give it a few chapters till I get disinterested than I will put it aside. If the book is in serious editing trouble I typically send a message to the author and let them know how I feel unless I notice that there are a lot of others that have said something already.
If you were living your ultimate dream life what would you be doing right now? I’d be sitting in a hammock with a margarita in hand on a tropical island surrounded by my friends and family. But not that close because I do not like to be bothered while I’m reading.
What were you like as a teenager? I had a lot of friends and I loved being around them but with anyone knew it was hard because being shy a lot of people who didn’t really know me thought I was stuck up for not talking to them. I was constantly told by my friends that someone asked them about me.
Your favorite movies? I am a movie junkie.. This is my second favorite hobby. I love all movies. I have so many favorites its ridiculous. My favorite changes all the time. I love classics like Gone with the Wind to the Fifth Element, To Goonies, to all of the Harry Potter, Twilight Series. I just love everything.
Song crush at the moment? OMG.. There is this song by Shawn Mendes that I love right now called Stitches.
Series addiction right now? I’m not addicted to any one series in particular at the moment. Game of Thrones isn’t on right now but I love that. Watching Bones and CSI with my daughter so that’s always fun.
